The school community of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, South Woodham Ferrers, honoured Mary the Mother of Christ in a procession at the end of May.
Alison Huish, Religious Education Subject Leader, said: “The children were led by parish priest Fr Niall Harrington and processed around the school playground before entering Holy Trinity Church for a service. Each child and adult member of the school community presented a flower in honour of Mary which was placed on the altar in the church. The service of prayer and reflection was led by the Year Six Liturgical Team. ”
The school was visited for the occasion by BBC Essex reporter Andrew Merchant, who recorded some of the May procession and interviewed children and teachers about the event. This was part of its focus on parishes with a Marian ‘USP’.
