Cathedral Lenten talks to focus on the power of the Eucharist

A series of talks are to take place in Brentwood Cathedral at 7.30pm on successive Wednesdays through Lent. Canon John Harvey, Cathedral Dean, says: “Inspired by the Pilgrims of Hope theme of this Jubilee Year, they will offer perspectives on the power and significance of the Holy Eucharist in our lives of faith, under the title: ‘Those who believe, don’t leave’.

Wednesday 19 March: ‘The Eucharist and the Saints’

Fr Philip Caldwell is a parish priest of the Salford Diocese who taught theology for many years at Ushaw Seminary before its closure; he writes for the Catholic Truth Society and leads retreats.

 

Wednesday 26 March: ‘The Eucharist and Our Blessed Lady’

Bishop Alan Williams sm, has been our own Bishop of Brentwood Diocese for over 10 years. A Marist, former Director of the Shrine in Walsingham and a Doctor of Psychology, he has been the Conference of Bishops’ delegate on many commissions.

 

Wednesday 2 April: ‘Eucharistic Doctrine of Song: The Lauda Sion of St Thomas Aquinas’

Fr Stephen Morrison (O.Praem) is the Norbertine parish priest of Our Lady of Sorrows, Peckham. After studying French at Oxford, he entered the Norbertine Order.  A Latin scholar and gifted preacher, he also speaks several other languages.
