On July 6th 2016, Bishop Alan Williams sm presented the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS) to more than 40 teachers, governors and catechists from across the Diocese. Brentwood Religious Education Service co-ordinated two editions of the CCRS course; one in school hours and the another at the weekend.
Bishop Alan, who has extensive experience and expertise of teaching at all levels, has delivered the CCRS course himself in the past and congratulated the recipients of the Certificate. The modules studied by those taking part included: Old and New Testament; Church; Christology; Christian Morality; Liturgy; Religious Education; Sacraments; and Sex and Relationship Education. At the presentation ceremony thanks were expressed to the many people involved in teaching or facilitating individual modules – including Fr Martin Boland, Mgr David Manson, Fr Paul Keane, Fr David Clemens, Fr Stephen Myers, John Adams, Gabrielle O’Regan and Pam Fitch. The CCRS course is approved by The National Board of Religious Studies.
