In a Christmas interview with Andrew Merchant of BBC Essex, Bishop Alan Williams sm talked about the origins of the Christmas crib and the reality of that scene. “At Bethlehem, our lives are transformed,” he said.
He went on: “Christmas is about generosity – and we should let that spill over into our everyday lives and think about people less fortunate than ourselves.” He said, like many others, at Christmas he would have a warm home, and be with friends and family. “Let’s not take those things for granted. So many people in the world live in poverty, under the scourge of warfare, are migrants or refugees. All those people need our sympathy, our empathy and our generosity – of prayer and something more tangible as well.”
