On the 19th of November (from 4pm to 7pm), faith groups from all around the county will be going to the Essex Multifaith Gathering in Colchester. Together, in a spirit of trust and friendship, they will share great examples which are empowering communities. Workshops led by local faith organisations from places like Southend, Brentwood or Colchester will showcase social actions and spark new ideas.
Then, at 7pm, everyone will be invited to attend a Friendship Supper, with musical performances and a World Café.
Organiser Jean-Michel Knutsen, who has been tasked with promoting good community and interfaith relations by Essex County Council, says: “All around Essex faith groups are organising social activities that help to build strong and healthy communities. This event will share great examples and ideas for supporting people in the community using volunteering and social action. It will discover how faith groups support the things communities care about. By bringing different faiths together we will celebrate our work, spark new ideas and question if faith groups can play a greater role in working collaboratively with other sectors.”
If you would like to hear about successful community projects led by faith groups; share your examples and knowledge; make new partnerships and collaborate; think about how Essex communities can best be supported; and find out what you can do next to promote community cohesion, come to this event.
The event will be taking place at
Firstsite Gallery, Lewis Gardens,
High Street, Colchester CO1 1JH
