Fr Adrian Graffy has persuaded yet another illustrious speaker to deliver a study day for the people of Brentwood Diocese. Fr Alban McCoy OFMConv is leading the 10th Gidea Park Study Day on 16 March, focusing on ‘The Gospel according to Pope Francis’. Six years after his election to the papacy, this study day will consider how Pope Francis has fostered the renewal of the Catholic Church. It will also look to the future and ask how that renewal might be appropriated and sustained at every level of the Church’s life.
Fr Alban McCoy is a Conventual Franciscan, ordained in 1975. He was Dean of Studies at the Franciscan Study Centre, Canterbury, where he also taught philosophy, and subsequently Dean of Philosophy at Allen Hall, the Westminster diocesan seminary in London. Since 1995, he has been the Religious Books Editor at The Tablet. From 1998 to 2013 he was Catholic Chaplain to the University of Cambridge. Now Dean at St Edmund’s College, he is the author of An Intelligent Person’s Guide to Catholicism (Bloomsbury 2001) and An Intelligent Persons Guide to Christian Ethics (2006).
The study day will take place on Saturday 16th March 2019 from 11.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m at Christ the Eternal High Priest Church, 410 Brentwood Road Gidea Park, RM2 6DH.
