A special Diocesan event is taking place from Easter to Pentecost in Brentwood. Fr Dan Mason, Episcopal Vicar for Parish Renewal, has organised a series of ‘Life in the Spirit’ seminars to be held in the Cathedral Large Hall.
As parish priest at Billericay, he been running the programme in his own faith community for the last few years, and says it has been run very successfully in Southwark Diocese too. “I am delighted that Canon John Harvey, the Dean of the Cathedral, has agreed to host it at the Cathedral for a wider audience.
“The idea is for Catholics to be able to explore the gifts of the Holy Spirit,” he says. “The Holy Spirit is often the least understood of the Holy Trinity but can be the most powerful in the effect it can have on our lives.” The sessions will feature some great speakers such as Michelle Moran (above) from the Sion Community and Fr Paschal Uche (below), who will talk about the Holy Spirit in their lives, he says.
“There is a structure to the programme as each session builds on those preceding it. By the end people come to a better understanding of the Holy Spirit and the effect it can have in their lives.” He is convinced of the value of people getting together and sharing their stories, faith and prayer in a supportive group. “It is so powerful – knowing you are not alone.”
The seminars are being held over six Tuesday evenings from 29 April – 3 June inclusive and are open to all. Says Fr Dan: “You are warmly invited to come along to hear inspiring speakers, be filled with the Holy Spirit and travel through your own ‘Holy Door’ as we celebrate this Jubilee Year as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.”
Around 30 people have already signed up and he is expecting many more. Why not add your name? Register here: Life in the Spirit Registration
